Hi, Could you introduce yourself?

Hey, I am Mila Dayan (@mila_dayan) an entrepreneur with a creative background. I am a founder of Moderne and an award-winning Art Director and artist.

Mila Dayan

What are you working on?

Right, now I am working on Moderne - is an insight and collaboration platform for creative marketing teams at agencies and brands. Moderne provides tons of ideas, trends, innovations, and insights highly tailored for the next marketing or advertising campaign. Also, Moderne provides a digital workspace for team collaboration.

In other words, I love building software for my creative colleagues that can help to accelerate and tackle the chaos of creativity.

What are the challenges and successes you’ve faced creating the Moderne?

The biggest personal challenge was to take a risk and go wild to build my own thing. I had so many ideas; it was difficult to combine it all, relying on my creative experience. The most significant success for me is taking an idea and make everyone believe in it. To gather a team of great professional people around you working together to turn that into a reality! It is so exciting and inspiring.

What are your goals?

This year isn't easy for all of us, as an artist, I have strong empathy. I believe my main goal is to be happy and be inspiring no matter what is happening.

Do you have a mentor?

Moderne is a part of the NMA Next Media Accelerator family in Hamburg Germany. During our acceleration program, we have met great professionals from different industries that were mentoring Moderne during the program.

Do you mentor anyone?

I was invited to perform and I am planning to lead some workshops anytime soon. It is doesn't mean that I am mentoring someone but I hope that it can be helpful and inspiring.

What could society do to better foster female talent? It is a robust and complicated question. I am surely not an expert. Being a female founder, I feel there is a definite shift for women around the globe. There are currently up-and-coming trends around diversity and talent attraction, and the career aspirations and expectations of the modern workforce. For the company, it is critical to focus on talent diversity and inclusion to help drive innovation in their organizations and create a competitive advantage.

What advice would you give to people getting into your field?

When you first start building a business. Everything is super new and there is one good advice: think differently! Many standard approaches won’t work anymore and time counts. So be creative and work fast! And remember: where data meets creativity, that’s where the magic happens.

What’s the best and worst advice you have received? I am trying to think positively in every life situation. I believe there is no such thing as bad advice. It could be a silly piece of advice, or the afterwords effect can lead to a worse situation. But first, the receiver should admit it and not act by the adviser gaudiness. In the end, we should blame our actions, not the gaudiness=) Usually, people advice in good faith.

Who do you follow? What blogs do you read?

I am inspired by the great work of other people. There are a lot of great leaders in the different industries that all together formed my mindset.

For creative inspiration: The book of Steven Jonson "Where good ideas come from", the "Science of storytelling" by Will Storr. I would say those books can help to get a better understanding of the creative process. "The Woodshed" podcast by Alex Bogusky - not a long podcast set but worth to listen and get inspired. For life inspiration: Ray Dalio - "Principles: Life & Work" and "12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos" by Jordan Peterson.

What’s the best way to keep up to date with what you’re doing?

I’ll be sharing my experiences, my thoughts and creativity in linkedIn and Instagram, I am always welcoming new people here=) We recently launched Moderne (ссылка) on Product Hunt. For everyone who is passionate about creative technology, advertising, unexpected trends, and non-obvious insights we have an inspiring newsletter "Creative Minds Weekly".  Also, we would be happy to extend our network in Linkedin and Facebook🐵
